Fairy Tales: Poetry
Poetry does well to teach children to read with fluency: expression, appropriate rate, and accuracy. Poetry also does well to deepen a child's comprehension of meaning as they must use their senses to visualize what the poet is describing. Poetry is good for teaching students to "read between the lines" as they make abstract inferences about poetry related to the overall unit on fairy tales.
